Imo Prosecutes First Case using the VAPP Law!

On the 24th of May, 2022, the Imo State Committee on Ending Violence against women championed the prosecution of a case of a Sexual and Gender-based Violence at the Justice Oputa High Court using the VAPP Law.

The case, the First in the state to be tried using the VAPP law, is an alleged rape case involving a Pastor and a Married woman who he allegedly abused under the guise of deliverance.

Yesterday, members of the Imo state committee on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, ISCEVAWG, showed up in solidarity at the Justice Oputa High court Owerri.

The Imo VAPP law provides a comprehensive approach to addressing all forms of violence against women and girls in the state. This is a win for all of us!
