AfA is an international African led non-governmental human right, peace and sustainable development Organization.

The concept of AfA emerged from the world conference on Human Rights, Vienna in 1993, but was realized with the granting of charitable status and the establishment of an office in the UK in 1996. To facilitate our work to our primary consistency, AfA established an office in Lagos Nigeria in 2011.

AfA has an observer status with the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights. AfA sits on the Executive Committee of the Coalition for an Effective African Court and is a member of the solidarity for African Women’s Rights (SOAWR) ). In July 2012, AfA was granted consultative status with the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
