Ethics
“as individual feminists, we are committed to and believe in gender equality based on feminist principles…”. The personal is political, and the political is personal. As we dissect and reflect on our roles in the movement, we should reflect on the concept of feminism, our organising and networks, feminist solidarity, self-care and well being.
Equity and Diversity
We believe in equity, intersectionality, inclusivity and accessibility within our organisation and consider this in all that we do. We are committed to the practice of engaging with people of different ethnic and social backgrounds, ages, religion, races, gender, or sexual orientation.
Passion, resilience and action
We are passionate about feminism, innovative and creative and are excited to shape the future of the feminist movement. We undertake all the work we do with enthusiasm and passion, using our creativity and innovation to proffer resilient solutions, educate and support all on the African feminist journey.
Reforms and Adaptability
AfA is a nimble, flexible and dynamic organisation, committed to adapting to the evolving needs of society and the African environment.
Shared Leadership and Accountability
We are accountable and responsible for the work we do and aim to ensure it is reflective of feminist realities. Collaborative action from different levels at the individual, community, institutional, national and global levels. No one voice counts more than the other.
Co-Operation and Collaboration
We believe in the power of teamwork and respect those we engage as our partners and stakeholders. Building and fostering relationships to better understand one another and build consensus.
Education and Capacity Building
fA values the robust exchange of information and ideas, both among and between our own constituents including other CSOs and partner human rights organisations with whom we may collaborate to perform our functions.
